Some dive trips are vacations. This one is a bucket-list check-off.
The BDE route is Egypt's legendary big-animal circuit — three offshore reefs rising straight out of the deep blue, far from shore and far from the crowds. This is where hammerheads school, thresher sharks come in to be cleaned, and the famously curious oceanic whitetip cruises right up to say hello. You'll live on the boat, wake up over the reef, and dive some of the most electric water on the planet.

The Destinations
The Brothers
Sharks, wrecks, and drop-offs — if it's on your dive wish list, it's probably here. Little Brother is home to a famous thresher shark cleaning station, and the surrounding blue delivers grey reef sharks, hammerheads, and oceanic whitetips (Longimanus) dive after dive. Over at Big Brother, spectacular walls draped in soft coral hide two classic wrecks: the Numidia and the Aida. Two tiny islands. Endless big moments.
Daedalus
South of the Brothers sits a massive offshore reef with some of the healthiest hard coral gardens in the Red Sea — plus the beloved "anemone city" teeming with clownfish. But let's be honest: you're coming for the hammerheads. Daedalus is world-famous for its schooling hammerhead encounters, and when the wall drops away and the silhouettes appear out of the blue, you'll understand why divers cross oceans to be here.
Elphinstone
The grand finale. Elphinstone's north and south plateaus are prime territory for hammerhead encounters, and the reef's most famous regular — the bold, curious oceanic whitetip — loves to make close passes that will fill your logbook (and your camera roll). Add fantastic coral, cruising Napoleon wrasse, and sea turtles, and you've got the perfect last chapter to an epic week.
Life on a Liveaboard
If you've never done a liveaboard, get ready to be spoiled. Your dive site is wherever the boat is — which means no long morning drives, no hauling gear, no crowds. Just roll out of bed, grab a briefing and a bite, and drop into world-class water 3–4 times a day (night dives included where conditions allow).
Between dives? Sun deck, snacks, and swapping stories with your YAY Scuba crew. Full board means every meal is handled. All you have to do is dive.

4x Superior Lower Deck Cabins – Panoramic windows, twin beds, en-suite bathroom with shower and WC
4x Superior Upper Deck Cabins – Panoramic windows, double and single beds, en-suite bathroom with shower and WC
3x Master Cabins (Main Deck) – Panoramic windows, double and single beds, en-suite bathroom with shower and WC
1x Royal Suite (Upper Deck) – Approximately 170° panoramic view, king-size bed, rain shower, WC, private terrace, and direct access to the sun deck
The spacious and comfortably furnished Superior Lower Deck Cabins come with twin beds, air conditioning, a mini fridge, sofa, table, safe, panoramic windows, en-suite bathroom with shower and WC, bathrobes, and towels.
The Superior Upper Deck Cabins feature double and single beds, air conditioning, mini fridge, safe, panoramic windows, and an en-suite bathroom, similar to the lower deck cabins but without a sofa or table.
The three Master Cabins on the main deck offer the same high standard of comfort as the lower deck cabins, with the exception of the Twin Bed Master Cabin, which does not include a sofa or table.
The Royal Suite – also known as “The Real Big One” – is the crown jewel of the MY Red Sea Explorer. Located on the upper deck, it features a spacious king-size bed, comfortable seating area, rain shower, Nespresso coffee machine, TV, minibar (first fill included), and numerous other amenities. The suite also offers a private, covered terrace with stunning panoramic views, just a few steps away from the sun deck.
Is This Trip for You?
The BDE route is an advanced itinerary — open-ocean reefs, blue-water descents, and currents that bring in the big stuff. Here's what you'll need:
- 50 logged dives (minimum, per Egyptian Marine Park requirements) - talk to us if you have less than that.
- A recent dive within the last 15 months
- Dive computer and surface marker buoy (SMB) — required on every dive
- Advanced Open Water certification strongly recommended (alternatively OW + Deep)
