YAY Scuba is heading to the Maldives aboard the Maldives Master, a 42-meter (140ft) floating basecamp for one of the most spectacular diving destinations on the planet. This isn't just a dive trip, it's a full week of comfort, adventure, and underwater magic.
Your Home for the Week
Step aboard and settle in. The Maldives Master offers a mix of fixed doubles, flexible twins, and singles, plus an air-conditioned lounge, indoor dining area, bar, outdoor jacuzzi, and a shaded mid-deck hangout spot. With four different sun decks to choose from, you'll find your favorite corner of the boat fast, whether that's catching the breeze at the bow, soaking up sun on the top deck, or relaxing just above the waterline. Eat. Sleep. Dive. Repeat! YAY!
The Ocean Deck: Where the Magic Happens
Here's the part you won't want to miss. As night falls, floodlights illuminate the water just off the stern, drawing in plankton and, with it, manta rays and whale sharks. Guests have watched mantas feed just feet from the boat, an up-close encounter you simply can't get anywhere else. Keep your camera charged and ready.
World-Class Diving, Zero Hassle
Your dive days run through the Maldives Master's custom-built 19-meter Dhoni, the Blue Shadow. It's a dedicated dive vessel built for comfort, with plenty of space to gear up, nitrox on tap, multiple compressors, rinse tanks, and warm showers waiting when you surface. Between dives, head up to the Dhoni's top deck for some of the best views in the Maldives.
Expect up to 3 dives on full diving days, with a rhythm of breakfast, briefing, dive, repeat, plus the possibility of a sunset or night dive along the way.
The Week at a Glance
Day 1 — Onboarding
Meet the crew at Malé Airport, transfer to the Maldives Master, and settle in with lunch, a boat orientation, and a check dive near Kurumba Maldives.
Days 2–6 — Diving
Full diving days with up to 3 dives daily, built around breakfast, briefings, and plenty of time to relax between adventures.
Day 7 — Disembarkation
Two final morning dives before heading back to port for an early breakfast the next day and your transfer to the airport.
The Destinations
Our week begins in Malé, where we'll board the Maldives Master and head out into the Central Atolls, home to some of the richest reef systems and pelagic action in the Maldives. After a check dive near Kurumba to get everyone settled, we'll spend the week cruising between dive sites known for strong currents, dramatic drop-offs, and frequent encounters with manta rays and maybe the elusive whale sharks, the kind of diving that put the Maldives on every diver's bucket list. Each night, we'll anchor in a new spot, so you'll wake up to a different stretch of turquoise water and a fresh set of dive sites to explore. By the time we circle back to Malé for disembarkation, you'll have covered some of the most iconic diving grounds in the Indian Ocean, all without ever having to pack a bag between stops.
Life on a Liveaboard
If you've never done a liveaboard, get ready to be spoiled. Your dive site is wherever the boat is — which means no long morning drives, no hauling gear, no crowds. Just roll out of bed, grab a briefing and a bite, and drop into world-class water 3 times a day.
Between dives? Sun deck, snacks, and swapping stories with your YAY Scuba crew. Full board means every meal is handled. All you have to do is dive.
Equipment & Cabins
Premium Twin/Double
Located on the lower deck of the vessel, these cabins offer comfortable accommodation for two guests. Featuring twin beds as standard, the majority can be reconfigured as a double.
Premium Single
Located on the upper deck of the vessel, these cabins offer comfortable accommodation for the single diver with ocean views and en-suite facilities.
Superior Double
Located on the main deck, these cabins offer comfortable, spacious accommodation with double beds, complete with ocean views and en-suite facilities complete with baths.
Superior Twin/Double
Located on the upper deck, these cabins offer comfortable, spacious accommodation in either twin or double bed configuration. Ocean views await, along with en-suite facilities with baths.
Is This Trip for You?
This trip is built for divers who are ready to level up. You'll need to be an Advanced Open Water diver with at least 30 logged dives, since currents and drift diving in the Maldives can be challenging even for experienced divers. If you're comfortable managing your buoyancy and air in blue water, navigating with a dive computer and SMB, and you're excited by the idea of watching manta rays and whale sharks feed just feet from the boat at night, this is exactly the kind of trip you've been training for. It's not a beginner liveaboard, but if you've got the certification and the dives under your belt, the Maldives Master will deliver one of the most rewarding weeks of diving you'll ever experience.
