Master Scuba Diver

PADI Master Scuba Diver

Join the best of the best in recreational scuba diving and live the dive life as a PADI Master Scuba Diver. The Master Scuba Diver rating places you in an elite group of respected divers who have earned this rating through both significant experience and scuba training. Fewer than two percent of divers ever achieve this rating. When you flash your Master Scuba Diver card, people know that you've spent time underwater in a variety of environments and had your share of dive adventures.

Every diver, who is at least 12 years old, should aim for Master Scuba Diver. The path starts with earning a PADI Open Water Diver certification, followed by PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver (or qualifying certifications). You also need to earn five PADI Specialty Diver certifications and have logged a minimum of 50 dives.

Start your journey toward becoming a PADI Master Scuba Diver and continuing your diving adventures with YAY Scuba!

In our mind scuba diving is a transformal experience, and for those that that develop a love for diving, the ones that want to learn all that they can about diving. The ones that want to become an ambassador for the sport to their family and friends. Master scuba diver or MSD is created for them, the ones that want to reach the highest non-professional certification.

Master Scuba Diver certification represents hard work on the part of the diver that commits to achieve it, and those that carry that certification have earned the respect of both their fellow divers and the dive operators they will do business with. At YAY Scuba, we treat the Master Scuba Diver program with the mentoring philosophy that we use with our Divemaster program. Your MSD certification with YAY Scuba not only represents technical training, but a focus on being a productive member of the dive community and a diver that can be relied on in all aspects of the sport.

The program requirements set by PADI, require a Master Scuba Diver candidate to complete the following for certification:

  • Open Water Certification
  • Advanced Open Water Certification
  • Rescue Diver Certification
  • Five Dive Specialty Certifications
  • Emergency First Responder Training
  • 50 logged dives

We take the long-term view of the Master Scuba Diver program; it's not something that should be rushed through. Your work with us will become a mixture of training dives where you build new experience, and fun dives where you put that training to practical use. You choose the type and style of diving that you want to pursue in your program and we then tailor your training to what your goals are. You have moved past Dive 101 and are now choosing your electives and dive "major". Ultimately, many of our Master Scuba Divers choose to continue on into professional training, and in your MSD program, you'll be given a chance to interact with beginning students and new divers, as well as all the dive professionals that work with YAY Scuba to give you a solid foundation for that pursuit.

Who can participate?

The Master Scuba Diver program is open to any Open Water certified diver

What is the class like?

Master Scuba Diver training is an immersion program (no pun intended) in scuba diving and because of that, it is different from scuba diving classes you've taken before. Your training will be mixed, and spread over a period of time, allowing the finer aspects of each technique to be practiced thoroughly. Your dive day will be a blend of training and non-training dives so that at graduation, the diver not only has the certification, but a wealth of practical experience to back it up.

Where does the training take place?

It depends on the specialty course that you are taking.

Dates

The courses can start at any time, and there is no set schedule to complete it. It is tailored to the needs and desires of each individual participant.

Cost

For a newly certified Open Water diver, with no additional certifications, the Master Scuba Diver program value is over $2,300, but can be yours for $1,999 and includes all of the following:

  • Advanced Open Water Certification
  • Rescue Diver Certification
  • Five Specialties (Nitrox, Equipment Specialist, Navigation, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Night diver )
  • Specialty certification paperwork
  • Access to all YAY Scuba dive professionals

We do recommend that you take Nitrox, Navigation and Peak Performance Buoyancy as 3 of your specialty classes. Having said that, it is of course up to you to select the classes that you are interested in. Just bear in mind that the package price may change.

We are happy to teach your Emergency First Responder training to complete your Rescue Diver certification for an additional cost, however we do not include it with the class as some individuals already have CPR training through another organization.

The price for the Master Scuba Diver program will be discounted for a student based on the level of experience they have entering the program. If you have multiple specialties already, there will be a corresponding decrease in cost. Contact us to learn more.

Due to the variation and personalization that we offer for the Master Scuba Diver program, we invite you to contact us directly to learn more about the program and receive a quote based on your current level of training.
